BEFORE AND AFTER FRAME REINFORCEMENT AND WELDING
Marines can be tough on their gear the FILBE Frames have been known to take a beating. Sometimes during our inspection we will find FILBE Frames with light fractures / cracks that can be refurbished and put back in the field. We repair the cracks by embedding stainless steel wire into the fractured area and weld in new polymer material as needed. We then smooth the repair out with a dremel. Once the repair is complete we torque test the frame by twisting the frame and feel it for any unwanted give. If it passes the torque test it goes back into the field. The repairs aren’t always pretty but they are effective. Packs with these frames are sold at a reduced price.
USMC FILBE PACK PHOTO DESCRIPTION
Each USMC FILBE Main Pack is inspected carefully and graded. This is the photo description of the “Damaged Condition”. These rucksacks in this grade have more aggressive signs of use. The missing buckles from the top flap is the primary issue with this class. In most cases this is the single issue these rucksacks have but its not uncommon for the grab handles to show some wear, abrasions, small holes and scarring on the fabric surface is sometimes seen as well. As with all previously issued items permanent marker, stains and scratched hardware is likely.
